Living with missing teeth is a daily struggle. Whether you’re missing just one, or multiple teeth it affects your diet, your confidence, and even your oral health. Did you know that a missing tooth puts you at risk for even more tooth loss due to bone resorption, and shifting teeth? Sometimes the situation can feel hopeless, but the good news is that you have options and your trusted team at Blue Coast Dental Group can help! Dental implants may be the solution you’re seeking, and you can learn here if you’re a candidate for dental implants in Torrance.

What is a Dental Implant?

Constructed from a titanium post, an abutment, and a porcelain crown, an implant actually mimics your natural tooth by replacing both your root and your tooth. The titanium post is surgically placed into your bone and allowed time to heal and integrate with your bone. This creates a firm foundation for your new tooth.

After the appropriate healing time has passed, your crown will be attached to your implant will be attached to your implant with an abutment. Dr. Sanaz Hamzehpour will customize your crown to match your existing teeth and naturally complete your smile. You’ll enjoy all the function you had with your natural tooth, as you’ll be able to brush, floss, eat, and chew like normal again. Implants are a very reliable treatment, boasting a 95% success rate, and they offer longevity as with the right home care and regualr dental checkups they can potentially last for decades.

How Do I know if Dental Implants are right for me?

Dr. Hamzehpour can determine if implants are the right option for your needs with a thorough examination and x-rays. Dental implants work well for most patients, however they do require a couple factors to be in place in order to ensure their success, those are:

  • The patient is in good overall health
  • There is enough healthy bone structure present to support the implant

If implants are the right treatment for you, our in-house periodontist will perform the surgical portion of your treatment right here in our office, so you won’t have to go elsewhere for care. Dr. Hamzehpour will complete the restortation phase for you after the appropriate healing time has passed.

If dental implants are not in your future, we’re happy to discuss other options for restoring your smile with you. The important thing is not to give up hope! Contact our office today to learn more.
