Why Miss School and Work for Your Child’s Next Visit?

It’s hard to believe, but the school year is already right around the corner! If you aren’t already, now is the time to start thinking about which backpack your child is going to want, which binder they’ll need for their classes and other school supplies that ensures they will have a successful school year.

As you’re writing a list for your child’s school supplies, did you ever stop to think about their next routine dental appointment? Scheduling during the school year can become a real headache quite fast, which is why now is the best time to get started. In Blue Coast Dental’s August newsletter, we’ll be highlighting the benefits of getting their checkup and cleaning out of the way now and why it is ideal not just for their oral health, but for their long-term success over the next several months!

Easier Scheduling for the Whole Family

When your youngest family members are busy going to classes, making new friends, and participating in afterschool activities like dance, band or sports, it can be difficult to make time for their next dental appointment. Furthermore, the last thing you want to do is take them out of classes and put them at risk of falling behind in their lessons or homework.

When you schedule them during the summer when there’s still time, you avoid these conflicts while still making sure that their oral health is in check. Blue Coast Dental is open five days a week, including on Saturday, so getting your entire family’s routine appointments out of the way doesn’t have to be a headache. Below, you’ll find our current schedule for your convenience:

Monday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Tuesday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

The Chance to Discuss Oral Health in Detail

We understand that the school year is a very busy time, especially if you have multiple family members in school. When you’re scheduling your routine visits during the school year, it’s unlikely that you’re thinking about the details of their current oral care habits. Blue Coast Dental wants all parents to have time to discuss aspects of their children’s current oral health, how they can improve their care, and learn about treatments that could make a big difference.

For example, if your child is struggling with tooth decay, we want to make sure that you’re aware of treatments that could help them as they improve their at-home oral care. This includes dental sealants, a procedure that protects the deep pits and fissures of teeth from bacteria, reducing the risk of plaque development. Additionally, if your child is waking up with headaches on a regular basis, it could be due to an unconscious teeth grinding habit that you didn’t know about. We can protect their smile with a custom-made nightguard and reduce soreness associated with the habit.

Catch Problems Now Before They Appear in School

When children have cavities or other dental issues while school is in session, their grades are far more likely to suffer as a result. Toothaches make it increasingly difficult to concentrate on their lessons as well as eat meals and drink certain beverages. Furthermore, if the condition of their teeth makes them afraid to smile, it could also affect their self-confidence, which could make it harder to make friends.

Prevention is key to avoiding most dental disease. During their routine checkup, we’ll carefully examine their mouth and make sure that no plaque, tartar, cavities or other issues are present. If something appears, we’ll prescribe a treatment that puts them on the right track towards positive oral health. By the time school starts, they’ll be ready to smile for their class photo with confidence!

Do you recall the last time your child had their routine dental appointment? Blue Coast Dental would be more than happy to accommodate your family as the school year approaches. Feel free to give us a call today and we’ll help address all of your oral health concerns!
